8 hours until the blade....

So I am a bit overprotective and too much of a worrier, especially when it comes to my dog. But she is like my baby so there. At 8 a.m. she goes under the knife for her shoulder surgery. Everything will be fine, I know but I still worry about her.

She has not had a bath in a long time, so we thought it fine time, especially since we wouldn't be able to get her stitches wet. She is now attempting to dry, hiding from me. I guess it is a good thing that she'll forgive me in the morning. I don't know what she hates worse, the bath or being brushed after wards?

Surgery

So, after noticing Abbey limping on Sunday at the dogpark, I took her to the vet today. She was diagnosed with OCD and no, it isn't Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It is a condition that is fairly common in large breeds. She has a piece of cartilage floating on her joint and causing quite a bit of discomfort. The procedure will cost over $1000.00. Yikes! Now, we have to decide when to get this done???

Anyone want to have a HELP AbbeyGAle fundraiser?

Free Sushi

We got free sushi tonight. All for volunteering to do a few dishes. Lifelong Learning through the U of U is awesome. I would highly recommend people pick up a catalog and search for something new to try. This class was Sushi Basics, taught by Marlene Noda, who works at Ginza. Mmmmm....... yummy!

Soapbox?

I originally started this blog so that I could have a soapbox of sorts. I realized that I don't have that much to say. At least right now.......

AbbeyGAle

On September 22, Jared and I adopted a beautiful 3 month old Standard Poodle puppy. She has filled our hearts with joy and laughter. She is enrolled in puppy school and so far can sit on command with or without speaking. She walks with a loose leash, she comes when called and she is learning to stay when told. She has enjoyed Tanner Park and the new DogPark in West Jordan and looks forward to Doggy Day Care at Dogmode.

She is my pride and joy and has given me new light.

History in the making

Well, I guess today is as good as any to start blogging. Barack Obama has just won the Presidency. I was moved by John McCain's concession speech and moved to tears by Barack Obama's acceptance speech, yet I voted for Ralph Nader. Why you ask? I have become active in politics the last few years and have become more so over the last 4 years. I have not seen anything positive come from the Bush Era. Ralph Nader stands for everything that I hold to be important. He does not waiver. I do feel that Barack Obama will do his best and will be a good, if not great President.

In regards to Local Elections, this is where I am the most frusterated. Utah residents for the most part do not do enough to take an active roll in their community. From the polls, I am seeing that they are sticking their heads in the sand and voting for the same people who have been in office time and time again. Someone please explain to me how the Senator from my district can be in the lead, when he spouts racial, biggoted garbage in public. For those of you who do not know who I am talking about, not sure how you can not but, I am speaking of Chris Buttars.

My values in a nutshell:
I am ProChoice, not Pro Abortion
I am Pro Gay Rights, Pro Gay Marriage
I hate Insurance Companies. Either get rid of it or insure EVERYONE
I want a flat tax rate. Everyone pays the same percentage, regardless of how much you make.
I support the troops but am against the war in Iraq.
I hate paying taxes but understand that taxes are how we pay for the services that we enjoy.

I will continue this later. My brain hurts from all of this policital mumbo jumbo.
